Information about The Bold Balladiers |
|
The Bold Balladiers were founded in
1995 by the tenor Michael Goldthorpe to promote live
concerts of the best popular Parlour and Music Hall pieces
of the Victorian and Edwardian period. In addition to
professional presentations in authentic costume throughout
the country and in London at the South Bank Centre, the
group has an outreach programme for schools (including
special needs), colleges, hospitals and for the disabled.
The highly successful community outreach programme has
visited hundreds of British venues, and has been featured on
BBC Radios 2 and 3. Concerts for music societies have
included Hartlepool, Hayward's Heath, Bognor Regis, Cuffley,
Itton, Long Melford and Stratford-upon-Avon English Music
Festival. As well as its own charitable work, the group has
helped raise funds for other charities such as UNICEF, SOS
BOSNIA and FIREPOWER. In a relaxed informal atmosphere, all
are encouraged to participate. |
